Eve Arnold, one of the greatest photographers of the postwar era, died on Jan. 4, 2012 at the age of 99. She photographed the well-known including Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Malcolm X and lesser known people as well. Ms. Arnold traveled the world and documented the struggles of the human condition.
I was blessed to have met her at a retrospective exhibition of her work in New York City in the late 1990s. She signed a copy of her book, "Eve Arnold: In Retrospect", with the following: " To George, Happy Shooting, Yours, Eve Arnold".
